Excellent Care!

I have been boarding my 2 dogs at Big Oaks for years and have always loved the service and quality of care they have received. As we turn down the road to the kennel they always get excited and when we park, jump out of the car and head straight to the gate. (that's a real measure of a dog's comfort) They love the play yards, the farm and all the interaction with the other dogs! Great kennel, great prices! These people really love dogs!

Incessant barkers

For the emotional well being of our other guests, incessant barking is not tolerated. We have professionally trained many incessant barkers not to bark needlessly. We will continue, in the future, to take all reasonable measures to insure that our guests are not unduly stressed by unreasonable levels of barking by other guests.

Rude, unprofessional, greedy

My parents boarded their dog at this place of "business" and I went to check on her. When I saw her, she was very timid and looked very unhappy. She finally came out of the run to see me and began to cry and whimper - she whimpered a little too loud and then began yelping and fell on her side. I then noticed a large shock collar on her (she is about 45 pounds) and she then ran into the enclosed area and would not come back out. The owner advised me that she was "teaching" the dog to not bark and that she whined and barked the previous night. (Sorry, if you don't like the sound of dogs barking why do you run a boarding kennel?)

My parents then decided to have me pick up their dog and keep her at my home until they returned due to having an extended trip to see family. The owner charged my parents (elderly and on a fixed income) $84 for basically a ONE NIGHT STAY - since I picked her up early and they would lose business. When asked if they would rent her spot out again I was told they would but would not credit my parents the fee since they are like a "hotel" and run it like one.

We were then told to leave, to go away, and when we asked for a copy of the agreement, we were told again to "just go away". This is a very unprofessional place and Elaine was extremely rude from the get-go. I do not recommend this place at all. Your dog would be treated more humanely in a shelter setting - they do not use shock collars for dogs that whimper or bark due to new, unfamiliar surroundings!

Dog came home w/fleas, ticks & bites

My dog is on Frontline Plus & we have a pest control service at home. He was at Big Oaks Kennel for 8 days. He came home with numerous large ticks, fleas and ant bites on his paws & in his ears. I called Elaine to tell her & she said "I have 6 acres of land out here, I can't really help that." I don't care how much land you have, if you're going to board animals, be a responsible business owner and have pest control come out. I was charged nearly two hundred dollars for his stay and given no compensation or real apology, plus I had to incur the cost of getting him "Clean" again. Save yourself the aggravation & money. Board elsewhere. I wish I had.
