I purchased four P225/65R17 Bridgestone tires on April 7, 2009 from Big O Tires (1509 Parkmoor Avenue, San Jose, CA 95128).
When I asked for a written copy of the tire warranty I was told by the salesperson, Mark Loomis, that he did not have any but I could go to the website if I wanted one. He made a point of telling me that (begin quote) “the tires have an 80,000 mile warranty and any flats, leaks, etc. will be repaired at any Big O at no charge.” (end quote)
I was very uneasy about the lack of warranty so I actually printed the materials from Bridgestone and took it back to Big O to get their store stamp (#5208) on the Mileage Warranty Certificate.
Yesterday, I noticed a flap of tire was hanging from one of my new tires. I took it to my local Big O and the technician said it needed to be replaced. I spoke with the Sales & Service Manager, EMAD SAIDAWI, who looked up my record and said (begin quote) “oh, it looks like you have everything except the road hazard warranty. Ouch.” (end quote)
When I repeatedly explained that I knew nothing about a “road hazard” warranty and that the salesman had completely assured me that my tires were covered for EVERYTHING he still refused to replace/fix the tire. After several minutes of arguing he told me to return in 3 hours and he would “take care of me.”
When I returned he had me drive my car into the shop, put on a new tire and, when the job was complete, handed me a bill for a road hazard warranty and the labor charge to replace/balance the tires.
NEVER ONE DID HE SAY THERE WOULD BE ANY CHARGE TO PERFORM THIS SERVICE. ONLY AFTER EVERYTHING WAS COMPLETE DID HE ASK FOR PAYMENT.
He proceeded to remove the keys from my car until I paid. I am ashamed to say that we actually struggled over my keys. He refused to return them, As a result I was forced to pay the amount.
