This Asian cafe shines from the historic Helms Bakery complex in Culver City, beneath the Beacon Laundry sign. Ah, yes, thats how they got the name. Like many of the tenants in this recently refurbished locale, the space is tres modern, with high windows, higher ceilings and a wooden-bench banquette against gray concrete walls. Even with that lack of sound absorption, the room still has an all-around ...

There are two separate smoking and nonsmoking patios. Inside, avoid the lone two-top in the middle of the room, as well as Table 20, which catches drafts when the doors open.

I saw the review of Beacon in the Los Angeles Magazine and was excited to try it out.

I go out to eat in LA about 3-4 times a week to great, very well reviewed restaurants i.e. Osteria Mozza, Fraiche, Cut, Dominicks, Fords Filling Station, Comme Ca...I love food, all kinds of food and I love trying new places. When I saw that Beacon was rated one of the best restaurants in LA I thought "I should check it out!".
Beacon was by far one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had ...

Apologies in advance for lack of photos, lighting was simply too dim to take anything flash-less that evening Ahh... Beacon - a place I've been meaning to checking out, and finally did - with a little incentive from DineLA. When my dining companion and I arrived for a late dinner last week (~8:15p), it was still a full house. Hopefully that's good news about the food. Like the other new restaurants ...

My wife and I come here about once a month and are always glad we came back. The short-ribs are really good and the appetizers are decent. The seabass is good if you like asian style fish with a hint of sweetness. And they have nice service as well. Overall it is a nice night out at a very reasonable price. Note: I would recommend making reservations to make sure you are seated promptly.
