What the community has to say about Beacon Hill Pub

Information about this business (1)

This popular Beacon Hill bar gets jam-packed on the weekends and tends to draw the 20's-something crowd. The Beacon Hill Pub has all the characteristics of a college bar with few bar stools and a lot of people standing around enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and company. The crowd tends to feature those a little older than your typical college students but it is definitely a young, hip group....

Editorial reviews from the web (1)

Down-and-dirty oasis provides the stately Beacon Hill area with an infusion of rundown charm and youthful debauchery.

The Scene
The Beacon Hill Pub's status as one of Boston's pre-eminent dive bars owes something to the contrast of its unlikely address on classy Charles Street. Ridiculously low drink...

upper management terribly rude

Having been there several times for drinks and enjoyed myself for the most part, I was dismayed to find that the upper-management at the office was terribly rude and unhelpful.

I called to inquire about what they served and I talked to a man named Stanley and he basically would not give me the time of day. I do not know what he does but it was the worst interaction I have ever had with a human being.

Underrated bar by far, Beacon Hill Pub, offers a convenient location for either pre-gaming, or even end of the night group meet-ups before going home, and also a great venue for blind first dates! I will continue to come back to you - and I will probably gain greater skill at your basketball game while I am at it! Drinks are reasonably priced, you can pick your own music (sharing with the ""date"" - it's a low key way to tap into what type of music they like - which opens up the doors to other conversations). I like this place to begin, or to end a night. I prefer other areas in the...

I went to college in the area and lived at this bar. I have some of the best memories there. If you're a fan of dive bars, this is the place for you! the service is what you would expect from a dive, but the bartenders have charisma and character. great spot

The Best Dive Bar In Boston

The Beacon Hill Pub sure gets its fair share of negative reviews but the truth is, if you're young and looking for a good time without damaging your wallet, it's not the worst place in the world! Look at it this way: with beers no more than $5 and a Vodka-RedBull at $6.50 (with cheap vodka, with Grey Goose its $8.50!), the place is a steal. I've never had a bad pour (since they typically overpour anyway.) The crowd can vary: students like typical frat boys (from BU) to intellectuals (from Harvard and MIT), young professionals , and local residents. Video games in the back corner get pretty...

Business description (2)

The term "dive bar" could have been created for the Beacon Hill Pub. The sinful sibling of Charles Street's high society finds, the Beacon Hill Pub sets the scene for seriously simple good times. Whatever is lacking in ambiance is made up for in character. Complete with pop a shot machine (and several other games), the Beacon Hill Pub is a go-to for locals looking to unwind.

An unabashedly unpretentious neighborhood dive bar, Beacon Hill Pub is known for its cheap drinks and loyal local clientele. During the day, the pub is a low-key place locals and workers drop in for a beer, and at night it is a favorite place of Suffolk and MIT students and young working professionals. The pub has 11 beers on tap, a white and red wine available by the glass, a jukebox,...

Tips about this business (4)

Where to Sit

To avoid a constant stream of patrons entering and exiting for a smoke, set up camp in the back.

Parking

This being a hard-drinker's bar, most patrons wisely take public transportation to get here. Remember that the nearby red line stops running around 12:30am.

Save Time

If you're lucky enough to grab a waitress, tip her well and save yourself the hassle of trips to the crowded bar.
