Help us make it rightI have been a regular customer for the past five years and purchased many boxes of cards - perhaps a few thousand dollars worth. I now realize the cards on his store shelf are picked over stock. While he (or other preferred customers) break a case they learn the sequence of cards found in each box. For instance, bowman autographs are found one per box and follow right down the checklist. They choose boxes with top players and sell leftovers to lower-income collectors who frequent the shop. A large portion of this demographic is children. That's why I feel obligated to post this...
I have been a regular customer of the BBCS for almost 10 years. I have purchased everything from single cards worth pennies all the way up to several hundred dollar autographed memorabilia from Scott and have never had a bad experience. Scott carries products for every interest and price range. Scott is extremely fair in his pricing both buying and selling and without exception the information he has given me has always been accurate. True story, a former teacher of mine from high school called me with some cards he found in his attic. I thought they were worth around a hundred bucks. ...
Positives: Every time I walk into "the Baseball Card Store", there is something new to be found, whether it's new product or a stack of boxes full of recent trades--I've never walked out of this shop empty handed. The BBCS is a family-run business, Scott (owner) is very friendly, knowledgeable and honest. This isn't one of those shops that list outrageous "book" prices on everything. I always...
Scott, the owner, is in the building 99% of the time when I visit. He is friendly and tends to reward good customers with a price break. Don't expect him to cheat himself though. He knows the current market and trends for cards. If you are selling cards to him, he knows the potential resale market as well. Don't expect more than 10-20% of high book value on cards that might be NM but are not in high demand due to scarcity, autograph, or relic.
A few times over the years, I have arrived at the store to find the door locked during lunch break. Also, the store is closed Sundays and...
