This restaurant serves Mexican food. Dogs are allowed at the outdoor tables.
Barelas may look like a set in search of a script, but it's the real deal: diners come from all over the city to sup in this old-fashioned chile parlor in the Hispanic Historic Route 66 neighborhood south of downtown. Other Reviews from the web
This place is busy. The service is great and the prices are super reasonable. They serve authentic New mexico food. I had what was called the Christmas Cheese Enchilades, it had red and green chili sauce, I loved it. They are only open for breakfast
Do yourself a favor and order the Huevos Rancheros Deluxe. Make sure to sub the home fries for the hash browns, you won't be disappointed. Their green chile has amazing flavor, and isn't all starch.
Pros
+ Food is awesome.
Cons
- Crowded especially fri/sat mornings.
