Great Tapas and Drinks Served in a Spanish Bar Atmosphere, Happy Hours, Menus and Gift Cards Online.195251ATTR:BARRESTAURANT

It's rare to find a place that's hip and chic yet casual and comfortable, where the staff is young and attractive but also eager and knowledgeable, and where the food is mouthwateringly delicious but still fits in your budget. Somehow, all these elusive paradoxes coexist at Bar Ferdinand, the welcome new addition to the up-and-coming Liberties Walk.

Bar Ferdinand Restaurant Review

Owen Kamihira's Bar Ferdinand, a sultry spot for the young cocktail drinking set in Northern Liberties, now offers food that lives up to the restaurant’s striking tiled design, thanks to the addition of executive chef David Ansill. He’s the force behind cult favorite Pif and his own Ansill, and he's freshened up the classics here, including dishes such as patatas bravas, shishito peppers, date...

Regaled as one of the best new restaurants of the year upon it's inception, Bar Ferdinand continues to impress with its true-to-form Spanish tapas menu (sizzling shrimp, Serrano ham, etc.), imported beers and tiled bullfighter design. Amazing food and excellent value make it acceptable to go over your plates-per-person quota.

Northern Liberties late-nighters and brunch fans have yet another option with this contemporary cantina sporting a Spanish accent.

In Short
Thank God for inclement weather. If it wasn't for a few rain drops or a nip in the air, who would ever leave Bar Ferdinand's lively outdoor patio on Liberties Walk and enter this...

It's been one of the few lasting bright spots in NoLibs for years and they're still doing things right - great food, great service, cool & underrated bar - great place for no-pretension tapas in a great setting.

Great food but not enough customers

We re-visited here now that David Ansell (Ansill) has departed. Everything was great: food, wine and service. Sadly it was a rainy Sunday night and the place was empty, yet several other NoLibs places we walked by on the way home were busy. I hope this is not a bad omen and just an off night. Really people, good here. Eat!

Always a great place to dine.

Terrible acoustics. Dishes sounded good on menu but lacked flavor. Dessert was flan and it looked damaged. Should not have been served. Service was good.

Made a 9pm reservation for 8 people. We arrived on time and was told we had to wait. Finally got seated after waiting almost an hour! By the time we were asked to order, they had ran out of most of the items we were interested in. Our server was pleasant and tried to win us back over but the damage was done. Bad impression of the place.

What to Drink: Toss back a couple Alhambra Especials and feel like you're back at that bar in Barcelona.

When to Go: Midweek offers more space and attention, but a lively crowd takes shape on weekends.

Where to Sit: Ask for a window table and survey the scene outside.

The Extras: Ask your server for the Spanish wine guide to get yourself aquainted with their wine selection.

Save Money: Despite stylish digs, drinkers shy on cash can down PBR's for just a buck
