A prominent portrait of Desi Arnaz, conga drum bar stools, live salsa music on weekends: this place is all about fun. Many of the classic Cuban dishes on the menu come from owner Steve DeCastro's family recipes, such as savory ropa vieja (a stew of shredded beef) and seafood paella, brimming with shrimp, shellfish, and chorizo. The bar serves an impressive list of obscure rums and tequilas,...

The Scene With salsa and merengue music in the air, the atmosphere at Babalu is fun and festive. Photographs, an elegant bar lined with grandiose mirrors, low-hung lights and bongo drums add to the authentic Cuban vibe. The Food Real Cuban cuisine served with pizzazz. Start with the Babalu, a sampler platter of empanadas, tamales, tostones and more. The lobster with...

Great Cuban food...nice location. Good for a group dinner then for drinks later (turns into an upscale night club atmosphere.)

Our group of birthday girls (all born in the same month) had a wonderful evening out at Babalu Grill. From the prompt service to the tasty drinks to the delicious main courses, we enjoyed it all. The ropa vieja--a shredded beef dish--was excellent. A very fun evening out!
Out of 50% of items on the menu on a Tuesday night at 6:30pm. Ropa vieja was not good. Dessert was not good. Service was poor. Certain things ordered were never delivered to the table. Prices were not too bad. Plantains were not good. I would not recommend the restaurant.
