In an international city, every ethnicity is eventually represented, for good or for bad: luckily, the stereotypical perception of English food is woe-fully misgiven. Fried fish and "chips"—our American French fries (sorry, Freedom fries)—as well as the requisite beer selection and, of course, football games on the telly. That is, soccer matches on the television.

The Brooklyn Heights branch may not be the original (that honor belongs to its Park Slope cousin), but it bests the original in gastro-pub ambiance and authentic vibe. This bar, located on Atlantic Avenue between Henry and Clinton Streets, is a British oasis. Patrons can stop by for a menu featuring battered cod and chips, battered haddock and chips, steak and kidney pie, shepherd's pies and a host of draught English, Irish and Scottish ales, stouts and lagers.
