The Mesa Southwest Museum boasts the state's largest collection of dinosaur fossils and dinosaurs - fearsome creatures of the animatronic persuasion. The Valley's only natural history museum not only has the best dinosaurs in town, but also a history courtyard where visitors pan for gold, a gallery that includes a replica native village and pottery, and three changing exhibition galleries. A dead-on favorite with kids in the throes of their dinosaur phase, Mesa Southwest Museum has permanent animatronic dinosaur exhibits that are very lifelike. For non-dino fans, the museum offers full-scale dioramas of ancient cave-dwellers and a primitive village settlement, a real-live jail and a panning-for-gold stream that rivals Knott's Berry Farm. Parents can go for coffee breaks on the... more

Not only are there a ton of dinosaur bones/models to look at, there's also an animatronic dinosaur scene with a flood every 20 minutes.

The exhibits go beyond dinosaurs. They have a turtle exhibit with live turtles, a special exhibit area that changes continuously, and the... more

The Mesa Southwest museum is very much a natural history museum with a variety of attractions that range from dinosaur skeletons and displays, an Arizona art gallery, prehistoric history area with adobe huts, old prison cells, an area to pan for (fools) gold, rocks and minerals and meteroites, a children's activity room, and various other attractions. Of course the coolest thing is the three... more

The Mesa Southwest Museum is a neat little museum with a lot of interesting things to see. They have a lot of displays to catch a child's attention including animated dinousaurs, there is also hands on stuff. It is a good place to take your child to learn about history. They have good hours and prices are fairly cheap. It's only around $6 for adults and $3 for children. You can take children... more
