Don't waste your time or money
Alex and Aqua Pools were quite disappointing. I would NOT recommend using this company for any large project! We had our pool renovated completely by Aqua Pool and Spa then had to pay for it to get fixed by another company. Alex never came back to check on our concerns in the end and refused to until he was paid in full even with a host of issues including electrical, installment of slide, steps, ladder, lights, use of very bottom end low quality materials and inability to put a liner in without pulling away from the wall. His staff did the work and he assumed all was fine. We let Alex know our concerns with no visit to at least inspect things not working. We requested he come do a final inspection and check his workers job, but he refused to do anything until he was paid in full. We made several payments as per contract, then when last payment was due Alex would not come address our many concerns until they received the final payment of thousands of dollars. My husband and I told him not one thing was done in good working order and they said they would come fix it only after we paid in full. In the end after Alex was rude and threatening over the phone, on texts and emails to pay him the final payment (which was a portion as compared to the over $20,000 we already paid in good standing), we lost all faith in his and anyone associated with Aqua Pools ability to complete a large renovation like ours and ended up having to hire another pool company to come fix the work they failed to do properly in the first place. Why would we pay a final payment without Alex (who's supposed to be in charge and know how to do a renovation) coming to check on our concerns? Just to lose money would have been why. Let's talk details. They started off poorly by coming into our back yard a way we did not agree upon. I came home from work to see they took down our fence and a huge, beautiful privacy maple tree that we did not agree upon! We should have stopped the project then.. I will share more details of what Aqua Pools and Alex did incorrectly, with cheap materials used. They did not replace our liner with a 28/28 liner we were told we were getting. We received the lower quality liner. They replaced our large steps into the pool, where previously our 3 daughters and friends could sit and gather, with low quality steps that looked terrible. Who would "downgrade" their pool with cheaper materials than started with? The workers ran our filter overnight without putting DE into it and told us that they were not used to DE filter pools. What a terrible excuse. We had multi-colored lights put in only to not be given the switch or manual to change the pool lights. We are still unable to correctly control our lights as they failed to give us the control knob. The ground wire to the heater was disconnected and not reconnected with the heater still connected to the electrical system. Thank goodness nobody was hurt with their poor quality and dangerous incompetence. When they filled our pool (with our own water), they forgot to put the cap on and the entire pool was leaking overnight into our back yard instead of filling. Just to continue with the terror of this project, our new pipes they placed (which we found out were the lowest quality pipes anyone would use for a pool) burst within the first weeks flooding our pool water on several occasions and us having to use pipe tape on new pipes. They also installed them backwards so the intake was attached to the outtake and outtake to intake causing the Polaris to be inoperable. So, Alex told us it was because our pump was old (it was only 2 years old) and couldn't be fixed! Another company was able to see the mistake and fixed the pipes and now the Polaris works; was nothing to do with the pump. They put a slide together that leaks because the workers did not piece it together correctly and again would not address ANY of these issues until we paid them another $4,000+ and risked losing all the money and not having a working pool! Then there's the pool ladder..they literally drilled the holes into our new concrete 4 inches too close to the pool and the ladder then could not rest against the new liner which was one unsafe, and two, would potentially pop holes in the liner! Guess what, this will never be the same until we pay to get new holes drilled into our brand new cement :( We now had someone weld an extension onto our current ladder, but this is only a temporary fix unfortunately. Not to forget the final errors that really made us lose complete faith that they could ever even repair anything correctly...on day of liner install, the pool liner started pulling away from the insertion in several places! Alex said this was "normal". Seriously? "Normal" for the liner to pull away and have gapping holes?! We had 3 other companies come check our situation and NONE of this was considered "normal" and we had to pay thousands of dollars to have our new renovation fixed.
