I initially found April from the great reviews online. I'm really not sure how she compares to other midwives in town, but there were some things that I wish I knew first.
First of all, her prenatal care was truly top notch. She took phone calls at any hour, day or night; gave well-informed answers to questions; and was very reassuring.

Our first son was born via cesarean section in 2000 due to placenta previa. I deeply wanted a natural, unmedicated birth and although I knew the cesarean was necessary, still longed for the 'perfect birth.' With our second son we knew we wanted a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). I interviewed several doctors and found that there were not many that attended VBAC's. The ones that did had lots of rules (induction, not letting me go past 40 weeks, ect.) that had to be met.

After more research and watching the documentary ""The Business of Being Born"" my husband and I started to consider...
