AMC is the region's largest recreation and conservation club. It distributes the best trail guides, maps, nature hike books and, of course, the White Mountain Guide, which is the New Hampshire climber's bible. But you can go it alone and still take advantage of the AMC-operated huts, lodges or camps. Stay above the tree line, but sleep in a hut with morning and evening meals provided.
