Help us make it rightAnita, Phil and son Tom founded Anita's over 30 years ago in a little donut shop they converted into a carry out in Vienna. After Phil's transfer to the U.S. Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C. forced the family to relocate from Albuquerque, Anita soon realized that her family recipes that had been handed down for generations from mother to daughter were unlike anything else she...
It's late and you don't feel like cooking. Worse yet, the kids are starving. If you are lucky, you'll live near one of Virginia's seven Anita's restaurants, and your dinner problems are solved---and at rock-bottom prices. Established about twenty-five years ago by a real Anita, these eateries are local institutions, frequented by generations of Virginians who have grown up eating the generous...
I can't believe this place has any stars at all. I'm just shocked... The food was such low quality that I couldn't even eat it and to be honest, I threw the leftovers away instead of bringing them home to my dog. It sounds horrible but I'm a foody of sorts and have eaten at many many restaurants. The chips...
Stay away!!! Anita's is an outdated dinosaur that needs a complete makeover. The interior is beyond dated and not that clean. The food is lackluster in all categories. No seasoning, bland, one note flavors in everything we tried. The salsa is watered down as some others have commented.
With so many choices in Reston and Herndon there is no reason...
Anita's serves Mexican, but prepared more in the New Mexico style, not tex-max. This means a lot of sauces/gravy's with many of the items, especially the burritos. Beans may come prepared more like bean dip with green chili's, cheese, green sauce or just plain refritos. Personally I love the green chili's. Burritos and taquitos are wonderful here, taco's slightly plain....
I recently stayed in Herndon, VA for a business trip and stopped in Anita's New Mexico Style Mexican Restaurant.
The food was well prepared and had a different taste than most food served at Mexican restaurants. They used different spices and chilli peppers to give it a rather unique taste.
The food was good and the service was friendly and...
If you are looking authentic Mexican food, or just good Mexican food, steer away from this restaurant. The staff was nice and courteous, but the food and decor left much to be desired. There was no draft beer, not a big deal, but a bit odd. The salsa was VERY watery and a bit flavorless. I got the steak fajitas...

Located in Herndon, VA, this Mexican restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also offer catering services. Anita's is open seven days a week.
Anita’s started off as a tiny little restaurant all by its lonesome in 1974 and has now developed into a popular local chain. This is Mexican food the way it should be: a menu filled with authentic dishes and a friendly atmosphere with enjoyable music. Anita’s prides itself on its reasonable prices and above all, its specialty breakfast burritos, enchiladas and fajitas.
