Like most Theater District spots, Angus McIndoe offers a little bit of what everyone wants, but unlike most, you'll find the lingering influence of Broadway on the restaurant, with thespians from the Great White Way sometimes crowded the first floor.

Right next door to the St. James Theatre, home of The Producers, Angus McIndoe counts the show's original stars (Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane) as investors. So don't be surprised to find yourself brushing elbows with stage names as you choose from the aim-to-please American menu. Dishes like barbecued boneless short ribs and roasted buttermilk chicken are showstoppers among the regulars....

Prices Higher/Quality Lower.This place used to be hopping and affordable, and it was a hangout for people in shows, but now I'd call it just another overpriced tourist place with mediocre food....

Such upbeat on-the-spot service by the lovely Kyle! Steak was cooked perfectly to my taste. Loved the ambiance- late dinner after the show was chill. Awesome.

Pre-theater dinner

We liked the small portions on the pre-theater dinner. It provided a complete meal on one plate and gave us enough time to get to the show without rushing or feeling overstuffed.
