The staff couldn't have been more friendly and this motel is located in a quiet, residential area that's only a 20 minute walk to downtown Monterey... however, the motel itself is nothing out of the ordinary with poor quality mattress, pillows and bedding, minimal TV channels and no amenities. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. The room was clean (other than hair on the sink) and nicely decorated, without the musty smell a lot of Monterey motels/hotels seem to have. The pillows were very thin - no neck support - if you like thick pillows, bring your own, but the bed was comfortable. Ask for a second floor...

Stage Coach Lodge looks like most other motels from the outside. However, the room has an updated feel and was very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is an older motel style property which has had some updates. For example there are lots of places to plug in chargers to recharge your devices. The bathroom was clean and fresh looking.
