First off, let me say that this is NOT the best violin shop in town. There are a couple of others vastly better than Scroggin. To put it simply, this man is arrogant and dishonest. Read the below review carefully. Does that really sound like the average musician? What other normal customer would know so much about David except David himself? I visited David Scroggin a few years ago for a small repair. He overcharged me for the same repair that I could get elsewhere for about $100 less. On top of that, he told me that my violin was unusable and cheaply made. He didn't realize that the person who made my violin has been consistently winning medals …

David Scroggin is the best violin maker and dealer in Hawaii, he is a Chicago school of violin makers graduate, he graduated with high honors and the best in his field of craftsmanship. There are many people that will consider to be an honor to do business with him or to have one of his violins.
