Love in Action

It was late 1972 and I had just turned 20 and met Rev. George Rice through (PhD) Herby Arnos, a mutual friend in Christ.

I was just two months old in the Lord, George, his wife Maryland, and the members of the (then Addison St. Church of Christ), now; Addison Community Church… George took me under his wing. He counseled me and encouraged me and helped me with my Spiritual needs and my practical needs. George always did that with young men and women. He and his wife raised two beautiful daughters yet sacrificed their time and efforts for Christ, His Church and mankind.

George loves Chicago and showed it through the giving of his time to community endeavors and service.

Some Churches are into Theology and seem to forget to Love mankind, other Churches forget Who and why God is and His Love for us and Love only Jesus Christ has given for mankind. George accomplishes both: He loves the ‘Good Lord’ as he would call Him, with all his heart, mind and soul and Loves his fellow men and women as himself.

I was spoiled after a year with George and the gang at Addison St., I thought all Pastors were like George, I moved back to Ohio, a year later. I have lived in Europe and traveled elsewhere in this world…but only have met a few like George, Maryland and the gang. Many of those there in 1972 have now gone on to be with the Lord. I am humbled to stand with those who have been impacted with God's Love working through a man of God and a man of True Faith who’s name is George Rice. Philippians 1:6
