Where Hudson begins its northern trek through TriBeCa, this Northern Italian restaurant takes a few cues from its southern neighbor, Il Giglio (no coincidence, the owner of Acappella is a former employee). The setting is romantic, the air wafts with garlic, and the portions are generous.

This eatery dishes up Italian dishes. Expect the average entrée to cost under $8.

A theatrical flair characterizes this Tribeca mainstay with a Northern Italian focus. The vaulted ceiling and green-marble columns give a cathedral-like air to the space, an ideal setting in which to listen to Sinatra and Italian opera. Ornate tapestries and gold-tasseled draperies underscore the drama. A replica of the famous 15th-century portrait of Federigo da Montefeltro, Duke of Urbino,... more

Named for owner Sergio Acappella, not grating collegiate chorale groups. Tuscan charm runs from mahogany wooden bar to huge painting of Duke Federico da Montefebre of Urbino. Polenta con portobello antipasti stands out on menu thick as your waiter’s accent. Bandiera Italia nice combo of three savory pastas, leaves you triple stuffed. Freshly grated cheese amuse bouche and complimentary... more

Italian spot with low lighting and lofty ceilings. It offers seafood dishes like handmade ravioli stuffed with fresh lobster, sea bass steamed with a combination of seafood, wine and garlic, and fresh salmon glazed with black truffles, wild mushrooms and a touch of cream. -The New York Times

We had a reservation to come here, party of four, and still had to wait 45 minutes for a table. But it was worth it. Impeccable service, and a genuinely charming waiter. The pasta and the risotto are outstanding. The kind of place where you stay to have an after dinner drink. Be warned though, very very expensive. This is the finest in dining though.

Drove in all the way from Long Island. The decor is OK but the food is absolutely awesome. Do not go here if you are cheap or expect to spend less than $150 for dinner for two. The homemade Grapa tasted like gasoline but I guess some people like that. Otherwise, one of the best Italian restaurants around.

Pros

+ food is awesome
