Vietnamese WeHo Style

Unless you are prepared to drive out towards Wilshire and Western, this is the best Vietnamese food you're going to find close to West Hollywood. Absolutely Phobulous (pronounced more like the TV show than the food in our part of town) is a dependable fast restaurant. It's usually packed because it's popular, cheap, healthy and tasty. Prices are cheap--around $ 30 for two bowls of pho spring rolls and two Vietnamese ice coffees. Considering the high quality of and freshness of the food, I wish the menu selection was a little larger and offered some more selection. This restaurant fine for lunch or dinner. The only problem is that street parking on La Cienega is tight.

best pho north of koreatown

My favorite in Los Angeles is Pho 2000's oxtail soup, but if I can't make it down there, Absolutely Phobulous makes a decent pho bo. Ask for the low carb version for less noodles and more meat.

In Short A more centrally located alternative to the traditional, famed pho restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley and downtown L.A., this petite red-walled oasis serves up traditional Vietnamese soups like its playful beef noodle soup namesake, along with many vegetarian and weigh watching options. The menu also includes cold Spring Rolls and fried Imperial Rolls, green papaya salad, chicken ... more

as a vietnamese person living in la, it's hard to find decent authentic vietnamese food. this place actually compares favorably to the vietnamese restaurants in little saigon in orange county, & i eat here or @ its ventura blvd branch @ least 1-2x/wk. the so-called vietnamese restaurants in koreatown are all owned by koreans or chinese, & are about as authentic as pf chang's is for chinese food. ... more

There isn't much pho to be found in the West Hollywood/Beverly/Grove vicinity, so this place is the go-to place when you don't want to drive half an hour for a hearty bowl of broth. The pho isn't the most flavorful I've had, but it's certainly good, and consistent. Not too many tables and it can get pretty busy at dinnertime. Parking can be tricky too.

Quite flavorful beef broth (with a hint of star anis), perfect for lunch. They also offer low-carb versions with more meat and half the noodles. Decor and atmosphere are far more inviting than your usual pho restaurant.

mediocre "westside" bowl

The only reason that I tried this place is because it was on west of Korea town, and it proved once again that there is no good pho west of Korea town. I spent last summer living off of 3 bowls a day, believe me when I say that this place is slightly more expensive than others, slightly smaller than others, and far less tasty than others. Pho shouldn't be stingy like this one.
