My '96 Bronco wasn't shifting until it hit @ 3,500 rpm, and it's the only vehicle my wife and I own together, so I needed it fixed right away. I went all over trying to get answers to the problem, and finally ended up going by A-Ford-Able for the first time to see if they could help me. One of the owners of A-Ford-Able Automotive, Jim Greene, had their techs run diagnostics on my vehicle and found a few problems. They had to order one of the parts, so I was asked to come back the next morning for the installs. That night it dropped below freezing, and my cheap-o landlord had refused to replace our gas furnace and my wife and I spent the night just trying to stay warm. When it came time to drop my wife off at work, and take the Bronco by for repairs, I was in no shape and felt ill from lack of sleep and from freezing overnight. So I missed the repairs at the scheduled time, but later that day I took my Bronco into an AMMCO shop for a second opinion/diagnosis. AAMCO came up with the same codes, but wanted me to leave my Bronco there for several hours so they could do more testing. Not having another vehicle to drive, I didn’t want to leave it anywhere and then have to pay for cab fair. Being that I am disabled, unemployed, was denied Social Security Disability, no pension, no savings, and have no income other than my wifes', the cost of labor and parts combined would have seriously hurt us finacially. I'd mentioned this to Jim today, and he sold me the Motorcraft parts so I could install them myself, as I was a Certified Master Mechanic back in the '70s and felt confident I could do so, thus saving myself @ $200 in labor fees. Many places will NOT sell you the parts, but Jim was kind enough to do so. While I wasn't really happy with having to pay for diagnostics, and the extremely high price for the parts, I couldn't be happier that they did find the problem, and reduced the diagnostic fees by @ 10% maybe because I'd bought their pricey parts. They also charged less for diagnostics than the local Ford dealership wanted, and for that I was also grateful. Jim and the other owner, Billy Masters, were very kind to me, very efficient at finding the source of my problems, and understanding about my wanting to do the work myself. I couldn't have asked for more from an automotive service center, and you can be sure I'll be going back to actually have more work done to my aging Bronco. Among other things, I also have a radiator leak in a replacement radiator that I'd purchased somewhere else, which is only around 1-2 years old. The company that installed it is no longer doing radiator work, thus my warranty is no longer any good. Replacing a radiator myself would be too overwhelming for me, since I have multiple heath issues now and there are some things I'd be better off not tackling. I'm definitely going back to A-Ford-Able Automotive for any service I feel I cannot do myself. I feel they are honest, trustworthy, and very knowledgeable. I rarely write business reviews, but in this case I’d felt compelled to do so, since I am so pleased with the way the folks at A-Ford-Able took care of me. I am sure to go to them again, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fair shake. Oh, and by the way, I hear they work on just about any type of motor vehicle, not just Fords, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a place to get good, reliable, and I believe honest service!
