Tires

Jack at L St. Gulf is a crook. Do NOT take your car to this place. The former owner/mechanic Richie was great. The new owner Jack will rip you off, especially if you're a woman. My wife took her car there for tires and he ended up doing additional work on the shocks for almost $2,000 without authorization. Then one of the brand new tires he put on had a leak within a week. He tried to charge...

Oil change, check for leaks, transmission fluid added

Oil change was $35. Jack the new mechanic there said he "was all for the customer" but my gut told me otherwise. As did my research. He gave me a quote for replacement of transmission lines and replacement of power steering box. Said it would take four hours labor to do the latter and two hours labor to do the former. Told me the PS Box could be found at a junkyard in Brockton to save on the...

rip off battery

Definitly the most over priced rip-off out there. I own an auto repair shop in NJ. My son lives in Boston. He came out and his Maxima had a dead battery, he had it towed to the closest shop which unfortunetly was the L Street Gulf. After charging him 100.00 to tow the car a very short distance they proceeded to charge him 224.00 additional for a battery for a total of 324.00 My son called me...

I have been going to Richie Almond since he started at Gulf. You always take a chance when it is a new mechanic but I could not be more satisfied with the work Richie has done on my old Plymouth Voyager. Twice I went in when I heard strange noises coming from my car and both times it was minor such as build up on brakes (which he cleaned for me) I thought I needed new brakes (which he told me I...
