We at the Bonham Exchange strive to not only provide a safe venue for music and dancing, but strive to change with the times. We hope to expose people to new ideas and to maintain a space where all individuals can get along and enjoy each others company, regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, age, or sexual preference- if only for a few hours. We do not wish to isolate the Gay community, as this...

The Bonham Exchange, simply known as "The Bonham," is a large and popular nightclub a couple of blocks away from River Center Mall. Although the Bonham still primarily sees itself as a lesbian/gay club, times have changed and the club now boasts a more diverse clientele. Dance on one of the club's three dance floors and when you are hot and tired, enjoy a drink on the patio. If you are hungry,...

Tina Turner, Deborah Harry (aka Blondie), and LaToya Jackson -- the real ones -- have all played this high-tech dance club near the Alamo. While you may find an occasional cross-dressing show here, the mixed crowd of gays and straights, young and old, comes mainly to move to the beat under wildly flashing lights. All the action -- five bars, three dance floors, three levels -- takes place in a...

In Short

Ive been here twice now and this place is pretty awsome. The edm and hip hop music is great. Bass so loud you can feel it in your chest. And the crowd is nice, like there are hardly any idiots which makes for a better vibe in the club as a whole. Love it.

Bartender completely ignored us even with only 4 other people at the bar! He decided to only serve his regulars and would continuously walk toward us to get liquor and then walked away. This was on a Wednesday night when he was the only bartender on duty. Very terrible for business if you want "walk-ins" or tourists to feel welcomed. It's not 1 star because your host was such a sweetheart and...

San Antonio's Premiere Dance Club Downtown behind the Alamo.

Perhaps San Antonio's most unique dance club, the Bonham is housed in a building that is over 120 years old. The club is known for inviting everyone to come in and be whoever you are without fear of criticism. Founded back in 1981, the original owner had a dream to launch a nightclub that was welcoming to San Antonio's GLBT community. He succeeded and today The Bonham welcomes EVERYONE. The...

You'll probably end up getting a workout at Bonham Exchange, although maybe not the one the original German owners of this former gymnasium intended. The Ramones, Iggy Pop, and Tina Turner have all graced Bonham, which describes itself as "San Antonio's premier progressive dance club." Three dance floors and four bars have taken over the 115-year-old building, attracting a truly diverse crowd...

When to Go: Wednesday is college night and straight night, with a male and female hot chest contest. Friday and Saturday, there are go-go boys.
